Aruba to host 2nd German-Caribbean Energy Conference

The second annual German-Caribbean Energy conference, a collaboration between the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the Government of Aruba will be held on November 5th, 2019, in Oranjestad, Aruba.

The main focus of this one-day conference will be on the discussion between Germany and the Caribbean region about renewable island solutions and energy efficiency. Germany is one of the largest economies in the world and front runner in the overall energy transition. The promotion of smart and sustainable energy solutions has resulted in the establishment of an industry which offers some of the world’s leading know-how technologies, some of them to be presented at this year’s German-Caribbean Energy conference.

The conference will be opened by Prime Minister Evelyn Wever Croes, followed by a keynote of the prestige German Research Institute “Fraunhofer”, presenting solutions for regional energy production and consumption on islands and off-grid regions. Award-winning building engineer and frontrunner in building physics and technologies Prof. Dr. Manfred Norbert Fisch, will zoom in on energy-efficient buildings as well as city districts.

Highlight of the conference is an exciting panel discussion, featuring energy experts who will talk about future visions on the energy transition of their islands. In addition, a delegation of German entrepreneurs is going to present innovative products and technologies in terms of sustainable energy generation, energy efficiency, consulting and project financing. “The interest of German entrepreneurs in the Caribbean market is high. For the second time, we are happy to introduce innovative solutions ’made in Germany‘, that help stimulate the overall energy transition in the Caribbean region”, says Alexandra Sierra, export consultant of the German-Dutch Chamber of Commerce. This year’s delegation is even more diverse: from small wind turbines, battery storage systems to energy efficient paint and wall coatings up to reversing solutions to turn the brown algae, a plaguing phenomenon tourist destinations like Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao are currently facing, into biogas.
