Another successful edition of the Chamber of Commerce Academy completed.

On Tuesday, November 14, the certificates were presented to the 27 participants who took part in the Chamber of Commerce Academy 2023.

With the Chamber of Commerce Academy, the Chamber of Commerce expects to help participants increase their chances of success as entrepreneurs by adding more entrepreneurial skills to their capabilities. The Chamber of Commerce wants to strengthen the economy of Bonaire in this way by offering entrepreneurs a greater chance of success.

As a final assignment, a ‘Shark Tank’ (Tanki di Tribon) was held this year in which the participants had to present their company in a creative way to 5 jury members. During a 5-minute pitch, everything was done to convince the expert jury members of their acquired entrepreneurial idea, knowledge and skills.

Ms. Tiffany Dorand presented her ‘MAHALO’ pitch and was declared the winner. A delicious bowl from Hawaii is introduced to the island of Bonaire. The winner went home with great prizes provided by the sponsors.

The Public Entity of Bonaire provided an amount of $10,000. Maduro & Curiel’s Bank Bonaire N.V. has also made available a cash prize of $1000 for the first runner-up (second prize). Cactus Accounting Services has provided an amount of $1000 for the second runner-up (third prize). In addition, Cactus Accounting Services has offered a guidance program. While Bon Bida Health Center provided a year’s worth of fitness, worth $750, to the winner.

Telbo Bonaire offers the winner a year of free business internet. The Tourism Corporation Bonaire TCB gives a seminar for knowledge acquisition in the region.

City Shop has a laptop ready for the winner. The Obersi Group will give a printer to the winner. And Rocargo Services has made a sum of $500 available to transport the winner’s purchased goods to Bonaire. The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), a department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate (EZK), offers a 24-hour coaching program for the winner. The winner can also get her large driver’s license with the prize from Nynedroid Driving School. Finally, Successfully IT gives Microsoft 365 Business for free for a year.

These prizes are intended to give Mrs. Tiffany Dorand “MAHALO”, (first prize winner), Mrs. Mirte Kuijt “Online veterinary services” (second prize) and Mr. Zahid Frans “Krioyo” (third prize) additional support to their companies to further professionalize.

The Chamber of Commerce Bonaire wishes all participants the best of luck with their businesses. Since 2018, the Chamber of Commerce Bonaire has organized the Chamber of Commerce Academy annually. The curriculum of the Chamber of Commerce was subsidized by the Ministry of Economic Affairs. The Chamber of Commerce intends to offer this curriculum again in 2024.
