Entrepreneurs in the Heavy Equipment Sector Join Forces

Entrepreneurs from the Heavy Equipment sector, active in the extraction of diabase, joined forces at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bonaire (KvK) on September 17, 2025, to formulate a joint position on the future and challenges of their industry.
The entrepreneurs aim to unite to strengthen their position as a group. By working together within an official association, clear agreements can be made, mutual support can grow, and the sector can present itself as a reliable dialogue partner for both the government and customers. The plan is for 2 to 3 permanent representatives to serve as the point of contact with the government. This will prevent fragmentation and ensure clear communication on behalf of the entire sector.
The entrepreneurs want to jointly determine the best way to extract diabase. At the same time, they are looking ahead: how can depleted quarries be given a responsible new purpose, for example water reservoirs or dams?
The current market is characterized by prices that are too low, putting pressure on maintenance and healthy business operations. The entrepreneurs are therefore striving for:
· Fair and stable prices for heavy equipment and services.
· Greater respect and appreciation from customers for the work delivered.
Within the association, clear rules must apply to all members:
· Safe and responsible driving.
· All paperwork and permits update.
· Proper maintenance of trucks and machinery.
· No undercutting prices.
· Stable rates for everyone.
· Corporate social responsibility as a guiding principle.
Members who do not comply with these rules risk consequences. Collaboration will be a key priority for the association.
Finally, the entrepreneurs aim to create a shared location where they can continue their activities in an organized and responsible manner.
The meeting took place at the Chamber of Commerce, which made its facilities available. The Chamber emphasized the importance of cooperation and noted that entrepreneurs in this sector benefit from a joint approach.
“After all, together we are strong,” said the Chamber of Commerce.
