Major change in SBI codes 2025
A major SBI revision will take place in 2025, what consequences will the SBI revision have for the registration of companies with the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) Bonaire?
The SBI revision involves merging, subdividing or rearranging a number of SBI codes. In addition, codes that currently consist of four levels will gain a fifth level by adding a zero. As a result, many companies will receive a different SBI code. This has no consequences for the activities of a company.
The SBI code (Standard Business Classification) is updated approximately once every 15 years to reflect economic developments and changes in business activities. The next major adjustment is planned for 2025. The Chamber of Commerce will process these changes in the Trade Register in the last quarter of 2025.
What does this mean for your company?
Automatic adjustment of your SBI code:
- The Chamber of Commerce ensures that your SBI code is automatically updated. You don’t have to do anything for this yourself.
Check your business activities:
- It is important that your business activities are correct in the Trade Register. The correct description ensures that you receive the correct SBI code.
- Have your activities changed? Then make sure that you change this in the Trade Register before September 2025. You can easily arrange this yourself via the Chamber of Commerce.
Why is a correct SBI code important?
- SBI codes are used for statistics, industry classifications and sometimes also for subsidies, permits or insurance. An incorrect code can therefore affect your company.
