Opening Environment Information Point at Bonaire Chamber of Commerce

On September 15th , the “Environment Information Point” was opened at the Bonaire Chamber of Commerce. The Environmental Information Point is a cooperation between the Public Entity of Bonaire, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and the Chamber of Commerce. This information point provides information to entrepreneurs about the Establishments and Activities Decree BES (IAB BES).  The decree regulates the protection of the environment as a result of business activities and is expected to take effect during the first quarter of 2023.

These environmental regulations allow companies to do business in a sustainable manner and make the environment, nature and the living environment of people and animals cleaner and safer. The decree will also reduce the regulatory and administrative burden because fewer companies will have to apply for a permit. Currently, companies that burden the environment require an environmental permit under the Nuisance Ordinance.

Most companies will be subject to a notification requirement and general rules, and a few larger companies will have to apply for a permit. The Environmental Information Point will explain to business owners which category they (will) fall into, and which environmental rules will apply to their business activities.

The desk is available for questions from individual companies and will also hold information sessions for specific industries. These will be announced through the information channels of the Chamber of Commerce.

The Environmental Information Point is located in the lobby of the Bonaire Chamber of Commerce at Kaya Amsterdam 23 and is open daily from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.  For more detailed information consult the website www.infomilcn.com.
