State Secretary Eric van der Burg visits the Bonaire Chamber of Commerce and local Entrepreneurs

The Bonaire Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KvK Bonaire) recently welcomed State Secretary Eric van der Burg for a working visit focused on entrepreneurship and economic development on the island.

During the visit, the Chairman of KvK Bonaire, Mr. Balentien, provided a brief introduction to the Chamber’s statutory responsibilities and its role in supporting the local business community. This was followed by presentations on two entrepreneurship development programs: CvO and The Next Step. Both initiatives are designed to encourage and strengthen entrepreneurship on Bonaire by supporting business owners in the development and growth of their enterprises.

State Secretary Van der Burg then met with two entrepreneurs who successfully completed one or both programs and have applied the knowledge and skills gained to their businesses.

The first company visited was Total Safety First, a business specializing in safety services, including fire safety solutions and the provision of emergency response and first aid training for organizations. During the visit, the State Secretary gained insight into the company’s important contribution to promoting workplace safety and preparedness within Bonaire’s business sector.

The second visit was to Flavorful Moment, an innovative mobile sweets and drinks concept. The business operates around two mobile carts: one offering sweet treats and the other serves refreshing beverages. Flavorful Moment demonstrates how creativity and entrepreneurship can be successfully combined to meet the needs of the local market.

The working visit provided State Secretary Van der Burg with a valuable overview of the support offered by KvK Bonaire to entrepreneurs and showed cases the positive impact that business development programs can have on the growth and professionalization of the island’s business community.
