Allowance ‘ALIVIO’ open for registration

From today it is possible to register for the ‘Alivio’ Allowance

The Public Entity of Bonaire (OLB) has an arrangement for entrepreneurs and employees who have a serious drop in income due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This ‘Alivio Arrangement’ is intended to support the necessary costs that people incur. Due to the corona crisis, households may have to deal with an unforeseeable, inevitable and sudden drop in their income. As a result, these households can run into problems with the payment of the necessary housing costs: rent or mortgage, water and electricity bills and internet. These problems cannot always be solved by the current support measures. ‘Alivio’ offers a relief of the actual necessary housing costs of a household. It is not an income support arrangement.

The arrangement applies for 3 months, with retroactive effect from January 1, 2021 to March 31, 2021. An allowance can be provided for part of or for the entire ‘Alivio’ period for the necessary housing costs. To qualify, households must face an unforeseeable and inevitable drop in their income of at least 30% per month. This could be because residents of Bonaire lost their jobs, fell outside the regulations or received much less income through the company because of all the measures that were taken.
The allowance amounts to a maximum of US $ 1,000.00 per household per month. The calculation of the amount looks at what the household is short of per month to be able to pay the necessary housing costs.

The Public Entity of Bonaire (OLB) needs your information to assess whether you are entitled to an allowance. An application form has therefore been placed on the website with which you can submit an application. You can apply for the ‘Alivio’ aid measure up to and including June 2, 2021. After receiving the application, you will receive an email from the email address alivio@bonairegov.com  that your application has been received. The term for processing your application lasts a maximum of 8 weeks after receipt of your application.
