Chamber of Commerce organizes information session for Chinese Association on Bonaire in collaboration with HBN Law & Tax

Bonaire, February 3, 2025 – On Monday, February 3, 2025, the Chamber of Commerce (KvK) organized a successful information session for the Chinese Association on Bonaire in collaboration with HBN Law & Tax. The session was held in response to a request from Mrs. Jiamin Wu, chair of the Chinese Association, who indicated that there is a great demand within the Chinese community for information on tax matters on the island.

The session, led by Jorik Julsing and Lucas Drissen of HBN Law & Tax, provided a detailed explanation of various tax aspects that are relevant to entrepreneurs on Bonaire, including the General Expenditure Tax (ABB), payroll tax and real estate tax. The most important changes for the 2025 tax year were also discussed. Mrs. Wu acted as a translator to ensure that all participants could understand the information properly.

The Chamber of Commerce has established a structural collaboration with HBN Law & Tax since 2024, whereby information sessions are regularly organized to support entrepreneurs on the island with tax issues. This initiative fits within the broader vision of the Chamber of Commerce to help entrepreneurs develop and be successful in their business operations, by giving them better insight into their rights and obligations.

The information session was well attended by approximately 20 Chinese entrepreneurs who were all able to ask their questions about tax matters and went home with practical tools to handle their tax affairs correctly.

The Chamber of Commerce and HBN Law & Tax intend to organize more of these types of information sessions in the coming months, aimed at various target groups on Bonaire, to support even more entrepreneurs in complying with tax obligations and optimizing their business operations.
